Switchboard climate control systems

Air conditioners for switchboards, filtered ventilation units, ventilation cowls

Switchboards are subject to heating and condensation as a result of the dissipation of the components installed. The build-up of high temperatures inside the switchboard can jeopardise the functionality of the entire system, especially when condensation occurs.

At Mazzieri Srl we can prepare the metalwork for ventilation units (fans, grilles and filters), cowls or air conditioners for roof or wall installation; the most effective tools for maintaining the right working conditions inside cabinets and switchboards with an excellent protection rating and dust filtration.

Mazzieri offers a range of cabinets preconfigured with:

  • wall mounted air conditioners
  • rooftop air conditioners
  • ventilation cowls
  • ventilation units

Ventilation units

Ventilation units, fans, grilles and filters are a good solution for removing heat from inside cabinets in normal environmental conditions, even with high protection ratings.
For optimal ventilation, the grille/fan assembly must be mounted in the lower part of the cabinet so that it can draw in the coolest air from outside, creating an internal overpressure that prevents dust from penetrating through the gaps.
We recommend using filters to ensure the circulation of dust-free air, keeping them clean for optimal efficiency

Suction cowls

Rooftop suction becomes necessary when suction on the sides of the cabinet is no longer possible or when large volumes of cooling air are required.
Suction cowls must be coupled to filter grilles to minimise the dust ingress from the atmosphere.

Rooftop and wall mounted air conditioners

Available for rooftop or wall installation, these are the most effective tool for maintaining a low temperature regardless of environmental conditions.
Air conditioners are recommended in plants requiring high cooling capacity.
A clear separation between the internal and external air flow ensures dust and other contaminants do not penetrate the cabinet. Using CFC-free R134a refrigerant, they ensure a good environmental protection rating without damaging the atmospheric ozone.
Maintains IP54 protection rating.

CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM

NATURAL DISSIPATION

Natural dissipation occurs through the surfaces of the cabinet’s enclosure. The maximum power dissipation values are stated in the tables.

NATURAL AERATION

Natural aeration involves installing aeration grilles suitably sized in compliance with the required IP protection rating. The grilles are placed at the bottom on the sides or on the door, the roof has holes on four sides.

FORCED VENTILATION

Ventilation units, fans, grilles and filters are a good solution for removing heat from inside cabinets in normal environmental conditions, even with high protection ratings.
For optimal ventilation, the grille/fan assembly must be mounted at the bottom so that it can draw in the coolest air from outside, creating an internal overpressure that prevents dust from penetrating through the gaps.
We recommend using filters to ensure the circulation of dust-free air, keeping them clean for optimal efficiency.

SUCTION COWLS

Ventilation units, fans, grilles and filters are a good solution for removing heat from inside cabinets in normal environmental conditions. Rooftop suction becomes necessary when suction on the sides of the cabinet is no longer possible or when large volumes of cooling air are required. They are designed to be coupled to grilles/filter to minimise dust ingress from the atmosphere.

NATURAL AND FORCED AERATION

At low protection ratings, in dust-free environments, good ventilation can be achieved by placing grilles at the bottom of the panels (or directly cutting into them).
The roof is already prepared for the installation of fans, the number of which depends on the required capacity and the size of the cabinet,
thus achieving both natural and forced air circulation suitable for dust-free environments.

19” RACK CABINET VENTILATION

Compact tangential fans designed for mounting on 19” racks in cabinets without doors.
They create internal overpressure that prevents dust from penetrating through the gaps and are positioned in the lower part of the cabinet. Air can exit either through an aerated roof or PVC cowls.

EQUIPMENT VENTILATION IN 19” RACK CABINETS

Rack-mounted fans designed for mounting on 19” racks circulate a flow of cool air underneath highly heat-dissipating equipment;
in addition, the air flow helps to cool all installed components between the fan unit and the roof.

HEATING

Condensation does not normally occur with the dissipation generated by operating equipment. When equipment is switched off, the temperature inside the cabinet tends to stabilise with the external temperature; if it goes below the dew point, condensation occurs.
To prevent condensation inside cabinets, the temperature must be kept constant by installing heating elements controlled by thermostats or humidistats.

AIR-AIR HEAT EXCHANGERS

Wall-mounted, they are recommended when there are contaminants in the air such as emulsions, dusts, chemicals, which must be prevented from entering the cabinet. The exchanger cools the warm air inside the cabinet by maintaining two separate counter-flows, creating a heat exchange with the cold air coming from outside.
Can be used if the external ambient temperature is at least 5°C lower than the desired internal temperature.br /> Maintains IP54 protection rating.

AIR-WATER HEAT EXCHANGERS

Available for rooftop or wall installation, these exchangers remove a significant quantity of heat in restricted spaces, in extreme temperature conditions and dusty or oily environments.
The exchange of fluids lowers the temperature inside the cabinet to below ambient temperature.br /> Exchangers use water as a coolant, with chillers integrated into the water system to ensure a low environmental impact, and are a viable solution for cooling multiple cabinets or process plants.
Low noise level.
Maintain IP55 protection rating.

AIR CONDITIONERS

Available for rooftop or wall installation, these are the most effective tool for maintaining a low temperature regardless of environmental conditions. Air conditioners are recommended in plants requiring high cooling capacity.
A clear separation between the internal and external air flow ensures dust and other contaminants do not penetrate the cabinet.
Using CFC-free R134a refrigerant, they ensure a good environmental protection rating without damaging the atmospheric ozone.
Maintains IP54 protection rating.
